• Multiplayer: all modes are gameplay-complete and functional

• YouTube export is functional
• UI has been through one intensive testing phase and is fully functional

What kind of game is Frozen Synapse?

Frozen Synapse is a single player and multiplayer simultaneous-turn-based tactical game.

How do I play?

Matches take place between two players.

Each player is dealt a "hand" of units, which have different capabilities, weapons and ranges. Both players must then evalaute their units and the terrain, and make a plan to defeat their opponent.

When both players have submitted their plan, both plans play out together and the outcome is revealed.

There are no health bars; units are killed by one good shot from an enemy. The game is about pure tactics and outwitting your opponent, rather than ploughing through a resource tree or memorising dull attack patterns.

I have always wanted a game like that! I would sell all of my organs just to play it! How do I play right now!??

OK, just put whatever it is you're hiding behind your back down for a second and then think about pre-ordering the game. If you do that, you can play an early beta today.

When will it be released?

We are currently aiming to release the full version in early 2011.

Will Frozen Synapse be on Steam?

We would love Frozen Synapse to be distributed on Steam: we are doing everything we can to achieve this.

If you pre-order the game, this will directly impact our ability to achieve distribution on Steam by making the best possible game we can. Also, there is a thread over at the Steam forums about the game, which might be a good place to let Valve know you want us on there.

If Frozen Synapse is available on Steam, will I be able to add my copy of the game to Steam if I purchase it direct from you?

Valve often offer this to companies who also sell their games direct through their own website; we will be requesting this if the opportunity arises.

Will Frozen Synapse be available via another digital distribution service or in retail stores?

We're not currently able to discuss distribution arrangements for the full version of the game, as we're in discussion with various potential partners. We promise to let everyone know as soon as possible!

What are the system requirements?

Is there a Mac version?

Yes! You get both versions of the game when you pre-order.

Is there any DRM?

What happens when you buy the game is this: you'll be sent an email with the download location and a key for your online account. You can download the game from that location as many times as you want, you can install it on as many computers as you like, you can make a backup of the installer, and you can play single player without being logged on to the internet.

We care enormously about our customers: we want you to play our game hassle free!

Can I get on the beta?

If you pre-order the game, you'll get immediate access to the current beta.

Who are the team behind the game?

We're Mode 7 Games, a three-man indie studio based in Oxford, UK. Our mission is to make deep, intelligent skill-based games with intriguing aesthetics. Our previous game was a sword-fighting title called Determinance.
